Telecom/Fibre Surveyor

The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret mapping data, and confidence working within public highway environments.\n\nKey Duties\nPerform on-site surveys relating to underground fibre infrastructure, including route tracing and intermediate joint locations.\nAccess and examine underground chambers to review existing cable installations and pathways.\nAnalyse technical drawings, fibre layouts, and mapped network designs to understand project requirements.\nCompare design intentions with actual site conditions, highlighting discrepancies or risks.\nEvaluate traffic management needs in line with industry safety guidance and streetworks legislation.\nLog findings accurately using handheld devices, tablets, or digital reporting platforms.\nCompile clear and structured reports supported by images and relevant documentation.\nWork closely with planners, engineers, and delivery teams to ensure survey outputs support project timelines.\nFollow strict health & safety procedures when operating in public areas and live environments.Skills & Experience\nAbility to interpret fibre network drawings, route schematics, and mapping overlays.\nExperience working with utilities, telecoms networks, highways, or civil infrastructure projects.\nUnderstanding of streetworks processes and traffic management requirements.\nFamiliarity with GIS tools or electronic mapping systems is beneficial.\nStrong observational and analytical capabilities.\nConfident using digital tools to capture and record survey data.\nSelf-sufficient with effective time management skills.Behavioural Competencies\nStrong organisation and planning capability\nHigh accuracy and attention to detail\nClear and concise communication\nAwareness of cost and project impact\nAbility to manage relationships with multiple stakeholders\nProactive in reporting progress and identifying issuesRequirements\nValid NRSWA accreditation\nPractical knowledge of Chapter 8 safety standards\nPrevious experience surveying telecom or fibre networks\nExperience with mapping or GIS-based systems\nFull UK driving licenceAdditional Information \nThis Telecom/Fibre Surveyor role offers the opportunity to work on varied infrastructure projects within a growing sector.
