Job Description

Machine Operator (Tractor/excavator/dumper/Ufkes etc)\n\nLocation: Maidstone (ME)\n Salary: £121 - £130 per day (competitive, based on experience).\n Overtime x 1.5 for evening and Saturday shifts; x 2 for Sunday shifts.\n Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 5pm (9.5-hour days). Overtime flexibility is required to work evenings and weekends, when needed.\n\nPurpose\n Performing a variety of tasks on-site, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard. Able to prioritise tasks, and take responsibility for their own tooling, maintenance, and safety procedures.

As an operative, holding additional certification, you are responsible for the maintenance and the safe and proper use of plant and machinery on site.\n\nTask Management:\n\nEffectively manage and complete multiple tasks on-site, ensuring all are completed within specified timeframes and to the required standards.\nPrioritise tasks based on urgency and workload, ensuring that all duties are carried out efficiently as per Team Leader instructions.Risk Assessments & Safety:\n\nAssist in completing daily risk assessments, ensuring that all risks are identified and mitigated appropriately.\nTake responsibility for ensuring that your own daily tasks are completed in compliance with safety procedures. This includes PPE inspections and assigned equipment.\nBe confident in identifying near misses and intervene positively when necessary, following the required reporting procedure on Procore.\nRegularly attend Safety Forums to stay updated on safety protocols and best practices.\nComply with requirements to use monitoring equipment such as Reactec (for HAVs monitoring).\nEnsure sites are safe and appropriately signed/barriered to protect the publicTooling & Machinery Maintenance:\n\nBe responsible for your own tooling and machinery, ensuring that regular checks and maintenance are carried out to meet compliance standards and where required documented on Procore.\nPerform general troubleshooting of assigned machinery and tooling, ensuring issues are addressed promptly.\nCarry out routine maintenance and ensure all assigned machinery and tools are in good working order.\nReport any significant equipment issues to the appropriate person or department for further action.Problem Solving & Issue Resolution:\n\nResolve minor issues on-site as they arise, applying practical solutions and utilising the experience of your Team Leader.\nEnsure that any problems requiring escalation are promptly raised with the Team Leader or Supervisor.Site Paperwork & Reporting:\n\nComplete all necessary site documentation as required on Procore, including any tasks delegated by the Team Leader.\nMaintain accurate records and ensure all documentation is completed to a high standard and in a timely manner.Support & Mentorship:\n\nSupport less experienced or newer operatives, offering guidance and assistance as needed.\nLead by example by applying new knowledge and best practices learned through safety forums and on-the-job experience.General Site Duties:\n\nContribute to the smooth running of daily site operations, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and safely to a high standard and on time.\nEnsure your own work area is kept tidy and safe, maintaining a clean and organised site.Customer:\n\nBe aware of your impact on the local community and the end customer.\nEnsure any interactions with Customers are courteous and where issues arise escalate appropriately.\nDirect any Customer queries and complaints to the Team Leader and main office.Machine Maintenance & Inspection\n\nConduct daily pre-start checks and routine inspections to ensure safe operational readiness\nReport defects or abnormalities promptly and coordinate with maintenance teams for resolution\nPerform minor maintenance tasks (e.g. fluid top-ups, filter changes) in line with manufacturer guidelines escalating to Fleet Co-ordinator/Workshop Manager\nMaintain accurate logs for inspections, servicing, and repair history on ProcoreHealth, Safety & Compliance\n\nOperate machinery in accordance with company safety protocols and statutory regulations (e.g.
