What You'll Be DoingThe role will be responsible for the effective delivery of IT Asset and Configuration Management across IT, using an ITIL framework.You'll take the lead in defining, implementing, maintaining and continuously improving the IT Asset (ITAM) and Configuration Management services, ensuring efficient creation, maintenance and management of the Asset and Configuration Management Data Base (AMDB & CMDB) and CMS tools including :Definition, Creation and Implementation of effective processes and controls for Asset and Configuration Management.Enforce and enhance policies, processes and procedures for Asset and Configuration Management.Ensure the AMDB and CMDB is definitive, up-to-date, accurate and the correct source for all IT Infrastructure hardware and applications.Auditing and verifying the integrity of the CMDB, to identify issues with, and improve processes associated to the update of system records.Monitors and reports on the Asset and Configuration Management processes effectiveness and efficiency and recommends improvements as part of a continual service improvement programme. Development and maintenance of the Configuration Management plan.Identification, classification and specification of all configuration items (CIs) and their relationships to other CI's.Identification of ownership and accountability for management for all CI's within the AMDB and CMDB. Lifecycle management and status accounting for all assets and Configuration Items. Other activities will include:Management of any assigned analyst resources.Working with Service Introduction to ensure the requirements for new services and technology introduced to the business are understood and successfully implemented within the CMDB.Management and enhancement of discovery tools monitoring tools deployed.Lead investigations of root cause analysis to continuously improve data accuracyDevelopment and production of regular and one-off reports.About YouProfessional qualifications or essential experience required: ITIL foundation v3/ 4 plus other relevant ITIL intermediate level qualifications.Extensive knowledge of IT Asset and Configuration management principles, processes, standards, new and evolving best practices.Significant experience in an IT Service environment, ideally with experience in a financial organization.Proven experience of establishing and improving IT Asset and Configuration Management Processes.Operational experience of the ServiceNow toolset, CMDB schema and best-practice use of the standard classes to support Configuration Management.Experience in the development of automated data interfaces to update the CMDB, and the normalization of data.Knowledge of ServiceNow discovery and Service mapping solution and the application of best practices regarding the product.Experience in the development of Service model maps within the CMDBConfidence in communicating with and presenting to teams at all levels within the organisation.Working knowledge of Microsoft SCCM with regards to the querying and analyzing of data.Knowledge of Software Asset Management processes, software licenses and agreements of major software suppliers.Awareness of service improvement methodologies to expand scope of Asset and Configuration processes Familiar with Scaled Agile ways of workingInternally this role is known as Senior Technical Specialist.
