To help deliver this, the Low Carbon Energy Finance team works with the business to help them evaluate, prioritize and progress their projects by providing then with access to expert commercial and financial skills, advice and guidance. The Finance Analyst is responsible for supporting a broad range of business activities, including strategy development, financial modelling economic and investment evaluation, screening, governance, planning & performance management, all in service of creating material growth across all the LCE businesses (Wind, Solar, Hydrogen, Carbon Capture and storage, and Biofuels).Key Accountabilities:Responsible for developing insightful economic evaluations and managing investment appraisal processes for LCE businesses, including:The development and management of financial models in accordance with bp’s Economic Evaluation MethodologyConducting due diligence of model inputs and challenging assumptions where appropriateThe development of business cases and preparation of governance documentations to support internal business/investment decisionsThe running of financial scenarios to provide key insights into value drivers and optionsWorking with the business functions to obtaining business case assurance.Assisting with other ad hoc requests including strategy development and commercial optimization.Use of analysis to support the maturing and structuring of business opportunities.Supporting the development of Business strategy through the development of portfolio tools and market analysis.Supporting integration of successful transactions into the bp LCE portfolio.Supporting ongoing businesses to explore growth opportunities.Responsible for reporting business unit financial metrics and providing assurance to adherence to the definitions of those metrics.Identification of technology options to simplify, standardize, and automate reports and economic modelsThe facilitation of the annual planning process and preparation of related presentation materials Essential Education:Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics or equivalent business degree. CFA or equivalent is a plusEssential Skills and Experience:Experience at building detailed financial and commercial models.Experienced at using commercial analysis to support the development of innovative commercial solutions in complex value chains and can assess business and financial risks Ability to challenge assumptions and model inputs Deep commercial acumen demonstrated in prior roles and can translate commercial arrangements into financial models. Ability to manage multiple/conflicting priorities with a strong track record of deliveryCan apply financial and accounting concepts to financial models and has the ability to analyse financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow)Analytical skills – ability to understand data quickly and draw out key messages and insights while maintaining rigor and attention to detailsAble to confidently to present to business leadersAdvanced MS Word and MS Power Point skills and expert user of MS Excel with ability to efficiently build sophisticated economic modelsDesirable:Experience and/or understanding of drivers of renewable energy, power industry and gas value chain businessesUnderstands debt and equity structures, including off-balance sheet financing and joint venture arrangements, and hedging instruments Proficient with data science applications and/or PythonExperience of Power BIExperience with, or a good understanding of Agile ways of workingWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
