Our IT function is using the latest Technology to deliver business benefit to Drax more quickly, improve user experience and drive operational efficiencies. 

We’re now recruiting 3 Application Services Leads in newly established permanent roles.

About the Role

Drax Generation has a complex suite of IT systems which the business relies upon to generate and trade energy; the functionality and interdependence of these systems is critical to the performance of the business, and our Application Support team also supports and delivers core finance and HR applications. Many of these applications are in-house builds, whilst those that are COTS type software are configured to the Drax business.

Taking ownership of a specific business area, (Core Services, Commercial Services or Production), you’ll ensure effective delivery, management and improvement for our IT application services. Should an outage or service degradation occur, you’ll ensure the incident is managed and services are restored as soon as possible. This may cover 24/7 managed services, so you’ll need to be prepared to be on-call out of hours.

This role gives you scope to collaborate closely with stakeholders at all levels of business, both within the IT function and across the wider Drax business. With the ability to translate technical problems into business implications, you’ll deliver strategic thinking and planning. You’ll be translating what you know from your stakeholders into service demand for the next 3-5 years.

In addition to managing a small team of Application Support Analysts and Specialists, you’ll effectively utilise third parties and product vendors to deliver small changes, enhancements and project demand.

About You

You’ll have previously managed service delivery within an ITIL delivery framework. This will include major incident management and problem management. Whilst this won’t be a fully hands-on role, technical knowledge will be beneficial so you can understand the underlying service architectures.

In addition to experience managing virtual matrix teams, you’ll have a track record managing a range of third parties to deliver both services and solutions.

You’ll have the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels of business.
